This campout is primarily for the purpose of promoting the Central Texas Trail Tamers and Recruiting new members. It is open to established CTTT members, their families and friends. We will staff a table during the event where we can give out information about the Trail Tamers and recruit for upcoming projects and new members. All CTTT attendees will sign up for shifts at the table and during off hours, we will be able to enjoy the trails we have worked on over the past 15 or so years as well as each other's company. We will not be doing any scheduled trail work during this event.
We are allowed to set up our camps and prepare for the open weekend the day before the actual open weekend starts! We will need to set up our tents in the designated area around the McIvor Center. Save the back country spots for other visitors. The Davis Mountains Preserve is located approximately 25 miles northwest of Ft. Davis on Hwy. 118 (about 10 miles past McDonald Observatory and about one quarter of a mile past the Lawrence E. Wood Picnic Area). Guests will be required to sign in and out at the McIvor Conservation Center. Camping is only allowed in designated areas, and only on Open Weekends.
Please see The Nature Conservancy Davis Mountains Preserve website for open weekends and days. It has critical information about what you can and can't do on the preserve. https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/volunteer-and-attend-events/find-local-events-and-opportunities/davis-mountains-open-days/
