Trail Tamers are needed to help build a new trail for the YMCA camp in Comfort Tx during the weekend of October 12-13.  No experience is needed.  Participants will learn the fundamentals of flagging a new trail, clearing brush, and building water bars.

The project is under the direction of the YMCA with the support of Texas Master Naturalists. Kevin Deiters will serve as the Trail Tamer's crew leader for the project.

Participants are encouraged to camp on the Ranch and meals will be provided to volunteer who camp-out and pay the $20 fee. Trailtamers intending to campout can arrive after 4:00 pm after Friday October 11th.

In the late 1990’s Roberts Ranch was generously donated to the Y by the late Bob Roberts of Comfort. Mr. Roberts envisioned the ranch to be a place where families and children could gather to explore the outdoors in a beautiful Hill Country setting. The pristine habitat, native plants and wildlife make the ranch the perfect laboratory for learning about and exploring nature.

For years, the property has served hundreds of children through an outdoor education program sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Now, the YMCA is hoping to greatly increase the number of children and families served at the ranch through new programming intended to fulfill Mr. Roberts’ vision.

Potential programs that may be offered at the ranch include conservation and stewardship workshops, camping, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and wildlife study.

The Central Texas Trail Tamers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
